New York è la metropoli esemplare del più eletto spirito della contraddizione. Una melodia di elementi a se stanti, negati e sostituiti dagli immediati successori. Un vortice, una circolarità autonoma che ha trasformato la realtà fisica della metropoli all'immaginario collettivo. In questo contesto si inserisce il progetto, una Penthouse che si sviluppa su due livelli, al ventesimo e ventunesimo piano di un blocco sulla 5th avenue. Tutti e due i livelli godono di una emozionante vista su Central Park. Il ventesimo piano ospita la zona giorno composta da un ingresso, un soggiorno con zona bar, bagno e terrazza a servizio ed una cucina con terrazzo comunicante. Il ventunesimo piano ospita la zona notte ed è costituito da due ambienti principali, due camere da letto corredate con i necessari ambienti di servizio. Se la struttura, i muri ed i solai sono l'hardware di un edificio i componenti di arredo e di design sono il software, elementi differenti ma imprescindibili per la buona riuscita di un progetto. In particolare in questo caso le scelte distributive conferiscono particolare importanza al disegno dell'arredamento che caratterizza in maniera determinante i grandi volumi disponibili al punto da rendere limitativa la definizione di mobili.


New York has always been the city of contradictions. Its mood is an endless motion of transformation, a temporality that has no duration, but passing. A melody of isolated elements, denied and replaced by the successors. A vortex that has transferred the reality of the metropolis to the collective imagination. The Penthouse has two levels, the twentieth and twenty-first floor of a block on 5th Avenue. Both levels have a fantastic view of Central Park. The functional program is clear, defined and ensures simplicity in using the spaces. The twentieth floor host the living area composed by an entrance hall, living room with bar area, bathroom, terrace and a kitchen with adjoining terrace. The twenty-first floor hosts the sleeping area and consists of two main rooms, two bedrooms furnished with the necessary service areas. If the structure, walls and floors are the hardware components of a building, furniture and design are the software, these elements are different but essential to the success of the project. This project give a particular importance to the design of furniture that features a crucial point in the design of the large volumes and make too limited the definition of furniture.
